Current Apple AirPods
We love AirPods. We have both had multiple pairs over the years. Fun fact, Nate waited in line for the original AirPods on launch day at the Apple Store. There have been plenty of models over the years, but the current lineup is pretty great.
Apple currently has 4 Models:
Apple AirPods 4 (cheapest) ~ $69 Black Friday Pricing
Apple AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation (cheaper with more features) ~ $99.99 Black Friday Pricing
Apple AirPods Pro 3 with Active Noise Cancellation (not cheap, but great) ~ $219.99 Black Friday Pricing
Apple AirPods Max – we don’t know why anyone would buy these.
Two Pro Tips:
- Don’t buy them from Apple! Amazon and other retailers often have steep discounts
- We highly recommend getting AppleCare for your AirPods

Apple AirPods — The Best Wireless Earbuds for Apple Users
Previous times we have picked AirPods:
AirPods 2nd Gen Lightning Case
| Model | Fit & Style | Key Features | Best For | Trade-offs |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AirPods 4 | Open-fit earbud with classic “stem” design | USB-C charging case, quick pairing, Spatial Audio, excellent call quality, lightweight, and comfortable. | First-time wireless earbud buyers and Apple users who want the core AirPods experience at the best price. | No ANC and minimal passive sound isolation; lacks some premium Pro-tier features. |
| AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation | Same open-fit style as AirPods 4 | Adds ANC and Transparency Mode, wireless charging, Spatial Audio, better clarity for calls and podcasts. | Listeners who want ANC but prefer the loose, open-ear feel instead of silicone ear tips. | ANC not as strong as AirPods Pro due to open-fit design; outside sound still comes through. |
| AirPods Pro 3 | In-ear sealed fit with silicone tips | Top-tier ANC, Adaptive Audio, Transparency Mode, heart-rate sensing, IP57 rating, improved bass and clarity. | Audiophiles, travelers, gym users, commuters — anyone wanting the most premium Apple earbud experience. | Higher price and some users don’t like in-ear silicone tips. |
| AirPods Max | Premium over-ear headphones with aluminum ear cups and memory-foam cushions | Exceptional high-fidelity sound, industry-best ANC, Spatial Audio, stainless-steel frame, extremely immersive listening. | At-home listeners, studio use, music lovers, and travelers who want luxury-grade sound quality. | Highest price in the lineup; large form factor; not designed for workouts. |
